What should I do if my pipes burst?

When a pipe bursts in your home, you should always look to a skilled and professional plumbing company that can resolve the issue, but before then, there are things that you can do to prevent the problem from getting worse.

We would suggest turning off the water at the main stopcock and turn on all of your cold taps to drain the system. As well as this, you should then turn off your central heating, immersion heaters and any other water heating systems you may have. Once that is done, turn on the hot taps to drain the hot water in your system.

It is also a good idea to turn off your electrics to prevent water from damaging the electrics in your home. Our team of highly skilled plumbers are more than capable of fixing pipe bursts at all scales. If a pipe in your home or property has burst, give us a call on 0117 251 0166, we will be with you to fix the problem as soon as we can.

What should I do if my pipes freeze?

Frozen pipes need quick attention from a professional plumber that can quickly get to the bottom and resolve the problem. Before a plumber can get to you, there are things that you can do at home to prevent the issue from getting any worse.

Turning off the water supply at the main stopcock is the first step you should take. Then, take a turn on the top where the frozen pipe is nearest so the water can flow out once it is defrosted. You can then thaw out the pipe using hot water or gently with a hairdryer.

Following this, you should contact a registered plumber to ensure that everything is running normally. Keith’s Plumbing has dealt with many frozen pipes through recent years and is highly knowledgeable about how they can be fixed. If you have a frozen pipe, call us on 0117 251 0166.

What are the signs that there is a problem with my radiator?

The most obvious sign that there is a problem with your radiator is leaking. Old radiators are vulnerable to leaking as they can crack after multiple years of use. Cracks in radiators do not just cause leaking, but can also make them rapidly inefficient.

Another sign is the radiator temperature when the radiators are dysfunctional, they can overheat or not switch on at all, each can cause huge issues with the temperature in your home, especially during very hot or cold weather.

How often do I need to service my boiler?

It is recommended that you have your boiler serviced annually in order to keep it working safely and efficiently. If it’s time that your boiler had a check-up, our experts can help.

All gas appliances should be serviced annually to ensure the safe operation of the appliance. If you have a new gas appliance you will need to have the boiler services annually as part of the T&C of the manufacturer’s warranty. You may also find that your home insurance also stipulates that gas appliances are serviced annually.
